A large pike hangs under the water lilly leaves. This painting is heavily inspired by my favorite snorkeling spot which is close to where I live. I get extremely lyrical about the splendor of the bubbles of swamp gas that cannot make their way up because they are held back by the perfectly young and beautifully rust-coloured edges of the water lilies. And then this beautiful, big pike lady underneath: oh my! And this can be seen everywhere in the Netherlands, but hardly anyone sees it. But I do, and so do you now too.
