‘Butterfly Flight’

  • 'Butterfly Flight', lapwing painting Jeroen Verhoeff.
  • A male lapwing flies its butterfly flight against a clear April sky. Butterfly flights are patrol flights in which they want to look tough and challenging as they fly with slow wing beats around the edges of their territory. With this they show the competition how big their kingdom is and that they are very capable of defending or expanding it if necessary. Always a wonderful experience to see this in spring!
