  • A stoats brown fur turns white in winter, but not everywhere. It seems to depend on daylength, genetic heredity and the amount of days with snowcover. I am curious to see if white stoats will dissappear in Holland because of climate change. Their tailtips remain black yearround though. Scientists with paintbrushes have proven that raptors catch stoats more easily without a black tailtip. And how fantastic stoats are. Small, lightningfast, incredibly beautiful and tough: they sometimes even catch hares! Hares can weigh about fifteen times more! Compare that with a lion that catches a cape buffalo; that’s only four to five times more. Bow for the little king!
