  • A European crane is preening its feathers in the morning mist. The light of the morning sun wins from the fog and shines through her ornamental feathers. How brilliant nature is here again: all those different shades of gray and then that subtle piece of red on the back of the head; how beautiful! (Although it turns out that the red up close is as bare as a vultures neck). In this painting I looked for stillness, the challenge of gray on gray and the beauty of translucent feathers.
