A female kingfisher (red on the lower beak) flies low over an overgrown stream. A fine film of willow pollen covers the water. I love kingfishers, but then again: who doesn’t? It’s not just their astonishing colours and their hunting skills that do it for me, it’s also their stubborn and assertive way of going about.
