‘Spotlight’

  • 'Spotlight', barn owl, painting Jeroen Verhoeff

  • A  barn owl flying by in the light of a streetlantern. In this painting I did not want to put the emphasis on the striking head, but on the beautifully patterned and translucent wing with the light shining through. The barn owl weighs only a few ounces and has a large wing area compared to its relatively small body and this ensures that they can fly very slowly. With their sharp eyes and their fantastic hearing, they are so perfectly equipped for the hunting mice, not on the least because they also have special soft feathered edges (come and see the original painting!), which ensures that the mice can not hear them coming. So perfect; so beautiful!
