• On a warm summers day a small flock of European spoonbills takes off. My country is blessed with relatively many of these birds breeding here. Interestingly, a fox once destroyed our main colony, in a heavily protected area consisting of birds breeding on the ground. Birdwatchers panicked, but eventually the survivors started several new colonies and also started to breed more up in small trees again, which increased their numbers quite a bit.
