• ‘Waiting’, acrylic paint on board, 1996, Jeroen Verhoeff. Knots, oystercatchers and turnstones are waiting for the turn of the tide. Most of them are sleeping for short periods, knowing that in such a large group there will always be a few open eyes on the look out for danger. This painting was another kind of experiment, this time about colour and composition. My idea was to make something reminiscent of a Persian rug.
